Miha Godec
Miha Godec is an artist, musician, photographer, videographer, and lecturer. Before dedicating himself to art, he studied biology at the Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana. Later, he graduated and obtained a master’s degree from the Academy of Arts in Nova Gorica, continuing his studies and honing his skills at ESAD (College of Art and Design) in Portugal, where he completed an Erasmus exchange. Since the end of his undergraduate studies, he has been actively creating original works of art, initially focusing on photography before transitioning to the field of intermedia art and new media in 2017. He has completed over 15 intermedia projects, which have been exhibited in Slovenia and abroad, including at the Ars Electronica festival in Linz, Austria, in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Miha Godec performs with modular synthesizers, using them to sonify natural water processes and bio-sonify plants. He has performed at international festivals such as Sajeta (2022), Speculum Artium (2022), MediaNox Gallery (2022), Štrpedov Rod (2023), and Niansa (2023). Godec is also a member of the music collective “Clockwork Voltage,” with whom he has performed numerous shows, including at the Indigo Festival (2023) at Cukrarna in Ljubljana.
For his artistic endeavors, Godec has received several prestigious awards and nominations. He contributed to a project that received an honorary mention at the PRIX Ars Electronica 2023, received recognition at the Roboexotica festival in 2021, and won second place at the BR41N.IO Brain-Computer Interface Designers’ Hackathon competition. He has also been nominated for the TESLA 2018 Award, received the International Festival of Computer Arts (MFRU 2017) award for promising students, and was a finalist in the Illume Image Quest competition organized by Red Bull in 2013.
