Joondroid

Joondroid is the electronic music project of new-media artist Abiral Khadka. Born and raised in Kathmandu, a city rich in culture and art, his live performances embody a sense of mysticism. He believes that music and art are vital forms of human expression. As he sings along to the unique sounds of his semi-modular synthesizers, he strives to create an immersive atmosphere that transcends the cultural and normative boundaries of traditional music.

Joondroid’s music crosses into various genres, reflecting his diverse musical background. You can hear influences from a wide range of styles, including electronica, IDM, techno, and psychedelic dance music.

For the past decade, Joondroid has collaborated with artists from around the world across multiple artistic disciplines. His work spans audio-video projects, film, experimental art, multimedia, education, and, of course, music. He has participated in major Slovenian arts and media festivals, both as a performer and as part of the organizing team.

Over the years, Joondroid has released music through several record labels, including Tarkine Records (Australia), Prakrti Shakti Records (UK/Nepal), and Metamusic Production (Croatia), among others. Recently, he and contemporary artist pETER Purg released a self-produced album addressing the current migration situation in the European Union.

Currently, Joondroid is working on two EPs that will be released through Clockwork Voltage, a Slovenian collective of modular synth enthusiasts and sound artists, as well as the Slovenian record label Tehnopolis.
